In one segment of my magazine i am going to interview a local charter boat guide and ask him different questions about snook fishing to get an idea about how i am going to write an article. I did some research about local guides and found a couple guides that would work. Getting in contact with these guides are going to be the tricky part. I think my best options are going to be waiting at a marina or boat ramp for a captain or finding a captain online and calling him and asking questions over the phone. I thinking calling them is going to be the most effective because waiting for one to show up at a boat ramp could take along time and I don't want to waste there time while they are trying to work. A couple question that i am going to ask him are what times of the year are best to fish for snook? I also want to ask him what the best lures are to use for snook? I think by answering these popular question that an audience might have, the article will be very informative.

I decided to start off at the Venice Jetties and I would need to bring a friend to hold fish for the photo shoot. I wanted to go around sunset because that is when the best opportunity was for pictures. I set a time for 5 oclock to meet at the jetties, I plan to be there till about an hour after sunset to give enough time to catch plenty of fish to post in the magazine. Then the following day i was going to go to some of the bridges i had scouted and try to get some good sunset pictures. I don't have anyone that is available to catch fish while i am there so i am just going to get some sunset pictures. There could also be other people out there fishing and i might be able to get there picture. I also need to get some freshwater fishing pictures so i plan to try to go to some ponds around my house. I hope to at least catch a couple bass to put in the magazine so i can have a variety of fishing pictures.

For my magazine Fishing Sarasota I need some pictures of fish and some popular fishing locations in Sarasota. some popular ones that I was going to check is the Venice jetties because there is always people fishing there. I was also going to look at some of the bridge at night time because a lot of people fish bridges at night time. I went to the jetties during the middle of the day just to see if it would work for quality pictures. I also stopped at a few other fishing location but i did not see that many people fishing so I did think it would have been a productive spot. I went to some of the popular fishing bridges at sunset like the Stickney point bridge and Ringling bridge. These bridges are a good spot because there is lots of fishing activity and at sunset there is a good time for pictures. I think it would be most productive is I bring a friend that is going to fish so I can have someone hold the fish for a picture.

We decided to keep the same font For our table of contents as we used for our title. Then under that on the right we are going to put 3 pictures because when we looked at examples most of the magazines had small pictures next to table of contents. Then to the left of that we put the article title with the page that it is on. We used the same font as the subtitles on the cover page to keep consistency. Then in the upper right hand corner we decided to put our page number with the name of our magazine. We decided to change the color of the name to a dark blue color just to add contrast from the page number and the magazine name. 

The Tittle of our magazine is fishing Sarasota and after researching other magazine covers we needed to pick a font that was easy to read but not so bland that it doesn't catch the readers attention. we also noticed that most magazines had the date that it was published and we decided to put our date in the top right corner so when its in a magazine rack the date can still be read.  we put the featured article title on the right and in the lower left corner i put couple more of the article titles so the reader can tell what is inside the magazine.

My Flat plan for y magazine is going to be 90 pages long We decided the magazine name for know is going to be fishing Sarasota we might change it latter. We decided after looking at examples that we would separate our articles by 2-3 pages of ads. During looking at our examples of other magazines most of the articles where under 4 pages so we made sure not to go over 4 pages for an  article. We made articles that would be in every magazine issues that are unique to my magazine. After looking at popular magazines almost half of the magazine is ads, so I made the flat plan for my magazine almost half of ads.

The last magazine that I analyzed is Saltwater Sportsman. On the front of the magazine they have the name written in big font and on most of the magazines it is in yellow font to catch the readers attention. They use the same font for every magazine and the font is unique to there magazine but its easy to read. The picture they use on the front cover is of a girl holding up a big fish on a clean boat with a bright sunny day with no clouds in the sky. The picture is very attractive to they viewer. Along one side of the magazine they have there heading for some of there articles. They also have a orange circle with a special how to article with the page number that it is on. Most of the adds are after the first couple articles. The magazine has lots of how to's which may attract an inexperience fisherman that is wanting to learn more. They also have regional fishing reports that are exclusive to specific areas which can attract an audience from that area along with adds from tackle s...

The fourth magazine that i decided to analyze is golf digest. From the first look at the cover of the magazine you can see a professional golfer that is in front of a gray backdrop. He is dressed in fully golf attire holding a golf club and smiling. The picture has been taken by a professional photographer and catches the readers eye. the font on the cover of every magazine is the same, and on almost every magazine the words golf and digest are different colors. They put there article tittles on the sides of the front cover so the reader can glance at the front cover and have an idea what is going to be inside the article. Inside the magazine just like most of the other sports magazines they put there adds in the middle of there magazine. The article have a small picture next to it that relates to the article with a quote that is cut out and increased in font size for emphasis. The third magazine that I researched is ESPN the magazine. The magazine reminds of a sports illustrated just by looking at the cover. This means that if multiply magazine use that style then it most be effective, so I think my magazine should be a very similar format. On the top of the magazine cover they have there sub-headings. they do this so that when the magazine is sitting on the shelf the tittle and subheadings can still be read. The magazine has a colorful title page to catch the readers eye and attract them into buying the magazine. Most of the adds that are in the magazine are in the middle of the magazine. This is because they want to make make sure the first couple of pages are there top articles to keep the readers attention then once they have your attention they give you an add. They use a very bold text on the cover page to make sure the reader can read it. They use a very easy to read style font.  The advertisement are usually located between there long articles to...

The second Magazine that I researched to  help me format my magazine is Florida Sportsman. They fit into my category of sports magazine and have a big audience in the outdoor community. They have a very eye catching front cover with 4 people standing on the front of a boat holding giant fish on a bright sunny day. They utilize subheadings on the front page to give titles to articles that will be featured inside the magazine. The magazine usually has a detailed 2-3 page article then between there article they put adds and pictures. Inside there articles they have a quote they pull out and change the font and increase text size this is supposed to catch the readers attention and interest them into reading the full article. I noticed that a lot of the adds that are in the middle are towards the middle of the magazine. My project is going to be sports magazine so i'm  going to do some research into popular sports magazines. One of the most popular sports magazines is sports illustrated. After skimming through the issue I noticed the magazine had lots of eye appeal the front cover was professionally taken picture the article tittles to catch the readers attention. The front page was a football picture but they made sure to cover different sports equally to be able to have a variety of readers. The adds on the pages where from companies that sell sports related products. This is effective advertising because it towards a specific audience that would likely buy there products. The magazine has interviews with top name players to attract that players fans to read the articles. The magazine also had lots of pictures of popular players to keep the readers attention. I think that if I can take that format and apply it to my magazine and make it unique I can make my magazine attractive to readers.
